This Cobb Salad Christmas Tree is a festive twist on the classic Cobb salad — layered with crisp romaine lettuce, juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy avocado, diced chicken, smoky turkey bacon, hard-boiled eggs, and tangy blue cheese. It’s as beautiful as it is delicious, making it the perfect holiday side dish or centerpiece for your Christmas table.
3 heads romaine lettuce, washed, dried, and chopped
1½ cups cooked diced chicken (grilled, baked, or rotisserie)
1 ripe avocado, diced and tossed with lemon juice
2 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped
4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
3 tablespoons red onion, finely diced
20 cherry tomatoes, halved
⅓ cup blue cheese crumbles (optional – or substitute feta or cheddar)
1 slice American cheese, cut into a star shape for the topper
Ranch or blue cheese dressing, for drizzling or serving on the side
Prepare the base:
On a large platter, arrange chopped romaine lettuce into the shape of a Christmas tree. Use larger leaves at the bottom for structure and layer smaller pieces toward the top for fullness and height.
Add the chicken:
Sprinkle diced chicken evenly across the lettuce to form one layer or stripe of “garland.”
Layer the toppings:
Add rows of avocado, hard-boiled eggs, turkey bacon, and red onion, creating colorful horizontal lines that mimic a decorated tree.
Add the cherry tomatoes:
Place halved cherry tomatoes throughout the tree to look like festive red ornaments.
Sprinkle with cheese:
Add blue cheese crumbles over the top for tangy flavor and a “snowy” look.
Add the star topper:
Cut the American cheese into a star shape and place it at the very top of your tree.
Dress and serve:
Drizzle with dressing just before serving or serve it on the side so guests can add their own. Enjoy immediately!
Prep Ahead: You can chop and prep all your ingredients up to one day in advance. Store them separately in airtight containers in the fridge until ready to assemble.
Avocado Tip: Toss diced avocado in lemon juice to prevent browning.
Serving Idea: Add breadsticks or pretzel rods at the bottom to resemble the tree trunk.
Cheese Swap: Feta, goat cheese, or shredded cheddar work beautifully in place of blue cheese.
Make It Vegetarian: Skip the chicken and bacon and add roasted chickpeas or diced tofu for a plant-based version.
