These adorable Christmas Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are cut into festive shapes using Christmas cookie cutters and baked in the oven for an easy, melty, and kid-friendly holiday appetizer. Serve with tomato soup for dipping to make the coziest Christmas grilled cheese board ever!

Ingredients

  • 10 –12 slices brioche bread
  • 10 –12 slices cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or chopped fresh herbs
  • Tomato soup warmed for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place cheese slices between two pieces of brioche bread to form sandwiches.
  • Use Christmas cookie cutters (trees, candy canes, gingerbread men, etc.) to cut the sandwiches into festive shapes.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter mixed with herbs.
  • Bake 6–8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the edges are lightly golden.
  • Serve warm with tomato soup for dipping.

Notes

You can assemble the sandwiches up to 4 hours ahead and bake right before serving.
To keep sandwiches warm for a party, store extras in a warm oven (200°F) and refill the board as needed.
Try different cheeses or add ham or pesto inside for fun variations.
