These DIY Blow Pop Valentines are a fun and festive Valentine’s Day craft made with mini plastic bowls, candy, and a pencil or straw. Wrapped in clear cellophane like an oversized lollipop, they’re perfect for classroom valentines, kids’ parties, and easy homemade Valentine gifts.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Servings 12 blow pops

Ingredients

  • 24 mini plastic bowls 2 bowls per blow pop
  • 12 Valentine’s Day pencils or sturdy straws
  • 3 Valentine’s Day candy conversation hearts, chocolates, gummies, or mixed candy
  • 2 cups shredded paper filler Valentine colors or white
  • 1 roll clear cellophane wrap
  • 12 ribbons about 12–18 inches each
  • 1 roll tape
  • 1 hot glue gun + glue sticks

Instructions

Fill the Bowl

  • Fill one mini plastic bowl with shredded paper filler, then add Valentine’s Day candy until the bowl looks full and colorful.

Assemble the Blow Pop Shape

  • Place the second mini plastic bowl on top of the filled bowl with the open sides facing each other. Secure the two bowls together with tape around the seam to create a round lollipop shape.

Create the Stick Hole

  • Using a hot glue gun, carefully melt a small hole in the bottom center of one bowl. Make the hole just large enough to fit a Valentine’s Day pencil or a sturdy straw.

Insert the Pencil or Straw

  • Slide the pencil or straw through the hole to form the blow pop stick. Secure it on the inside with hot glue so it stays firmly in place.

Wrap the Blow Pop

  • Wrap the entire bowl with clear cellophane wrap, gathering it tightly around the base near the stick to create a classic lollipop look.

Finish with Ribbon

  • Tie ribbon around the base of the wrapped bowl and curl the ends for a festive, gift-ready finish.

Notes

Candy-Free Option: Swap the candy for small toys, stickers, erasers, or rolled notes for an allergy-friendly classroom Valentine.
Classroom Tip: Always check school guidelines for food or candy restrictions before assembling.
Adult Supervision Required: An adult should handle melting the hole and securing the stick with hot glue.
Straw vs. Pencil: Both work well—pencils add a festive touch, while straws are lightweight and kid-friendly.
Make-Ahead Friendly: These can be assembled 1–2 days ahead and stored at room temperature.
