How to Hang a Christmas Garland Over Your Kitchen Sinl

Learn how to hang a Christmas garland and twinkle lights over your kitchen sink using a tension rod — no nails, no tools, just instant cozy charm. This simple decorating hack transforms your kitchen into a festive, glowing space that feels warm and welcoming all season long.

Equipment

  • 1 Tension rod (adjustable to fit between your upper cabinets)
  • 1 Christmas garland
  • 1 strand Battery-operated twinkle lights (warm white preferred)
  • Beaded or bell garland for layering
  • Mini Command hooks or clear zip ties for extra hold
  • Optional: Suction cup hooks if adding wreaths to windows

Instructions

  • Measure & Place the Tension Rod - Measure the distance between your upper cabinets and adjust your tension rod to fit snugly. Position it just above your kitchen window for the perfect draped look.
  • Drape the Garland- Fluff your garland so it looks full and lush. Drape it evenly over the rod, letting a few branches cascade slightly down each side. Secure with clear zip ties or floral wire if needed.
  • Add the Twinkle Lights - Weave your lights through the garland, tucking the wire in so it disappears. Hide the battery pack behind a cabinet or in the greenery. Turn them on for that cozy, golden glow!
  • Layer in Details - Add a strand of gold beads, small gold bells, or even a few ribbon bows for texture and charm

Notes

For a fuller look, layer two garlands together or mix greenery types.
Use warm white battery lights for that soft “golden hour” glow.
