Ingredients

  • 1 medium seedless watermelon cut into bite-sized cubes

  • 1 –2 tablespoons Tajín seasoning to taste

  • Add the cubed watermelon to a large bowl or airtight container, making sure the pieces are evenly sized for consistent soaking.
  • Pour the tequila over the watermelon until all pieces are fully coated.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, but ideally 12–24 hours for maximum flavor infusion.
  • Once soaked, drain the watermelon well to remove excess liquid.

  • Sprinkle generously with Tajín seasoning.
  • Finish with a fresh squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving.

Notes

  • For stronger flavor - Let the watermelon soak closer to 24 hours for a more noticeable tequila infusion.
  • Do not oversoak - Avoid soaking longer than 24 hours, as the watermelon can become too soft.
  • Use lime for classic margarita flavor - While lemon works, lime gives a more traditional taste.
  • Add Tajín right before serving - This keeps the seasoning bold and prevents it from dissolving.
  • Serve chilled - These skewers taste best cold and refreshing straight from the fridge.
  • Use flavored tequila - Pineapple jalapeño tequila adds a sweet and spicy twist that elevates the entire recipe.
