Giant Homemade Easter Egg Pop Tart

Decorated Puff Pastry Easter Egg Pop Tart

This adorable homemade Easter Egg Pop Tart is so simple, adorable, and perfect for Easter mornings or gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packages thawed puff pastry sheets (4 sheets). You can also use pie crusts!
  • 1 egg + small splash water, beaten together
  • 1 cup seedless strawberry jam
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup sprinkles
  • Optional: extra colored icing for making an Easter Egg design

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Lightly grease a large baking sheet or cover with parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Unfold one puff pastry sheet/pie crust on the baking sheet. Overlap a 2nd pastry sheet on top length-wise and use a rolling pin to roll puff pastry sheets out and combine into one longer sheet.
  • Spread strawberry jam across the combined puff pastries, leaving about a 1/2 inch of space around the edges.
  • Unfold the other two pastry sheets and lay on top of the first two pastries and jam.
  • Use a fork to gently press the two sheets together, creating a seal and a cute pattern around the edge.
  • Using a pizza cuter, cut out an egg shape and remove excess pastry.
  • Poke about 10 holes in the top of the pastry with a fork so heat can escape.
  • Brush the top sheet of puff pastry with the egg wash.
  • Bake for 20-22 minutes or until the puff pastry is dark golden brown.
  • In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar and heavy cream until smooth and creamy.
  • Spread frosting across the pop tart and top with sprinkles.
  • Allow the pop tart to cool 10 minutes or so minutes before slicing.

Notes

Substitutions:

  • You can substitute puff pastry sheets for pie crusts
  • You can also use cake frosting instead of making your own frosting
  • Swap strawberry jam for any preferred flavor. (You can also use Brown Sugar Cream Cheese if you prefer that flavor pop tart!)
