Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Lightly grease a large baking sheet or cover with parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  3. Unfold one puff pastry sheet/pie crust on the baking sheet. Overlap a 2nd pastry sheet on top length-wise and use a rolling pin to roll puff pastry sheets out and combine into one longer sheet.
  4. Spread strawberry jam across the combined puff pastries, leaving about a 1/2 inch of space around the edges.
  5. Unfold the other two pastry sheets and lay on top of the first two pastries and jam.
  6. Use a fork to gently press the two sheets together, creating a seal and a cute pattern around the edge.
  7. Using a pizza cuter, cut out an egg shape and remove excess pastry.
  8. Poke about 10 holes in the top of the pastry with a fork so heat can escape.
  9. Brush the top sheet of puff pastry with the egg wash.
  10. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until the puff pastry is dark golden brown.
  11. In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar and heavy cream until smooth and creamy.
  12. Spread frosting across the pop tart and top with sprinkles.
  13. Allow the pop tart to cool 10 minutes or so minutes before slicing.

Tip: Kids can make their own Easter Egg Pop Tarts with the leftover dough! They could make an Easter egg shape or use a cookie cutter to create bunnies, chicks, flower shapes, or any other design. You could also swap the large Easter egg shape altogether to make an assortment of smaller pop-tart shapes!

Here’s a Quick Video Tutorial!

Perfect Presentation Platters

Wooden Serving Boards: I used this large wooden platter with double handles from Target for this recipe. I also love my MacKenzie Childs wooden checkered board and use it for prep, presentation, and decor. If you’re looking to add to a collection, Antique Hardware has this set of 3 that I get so much use out of, as well as this raised wooden trivet from Target.

White Platters: If you’d prefer a marble look, this white marble pastry board from World Market is beautiful. For a less expensive option, this faux white marble tray from Walmart is also a great choice!

Easter Serving Dishes: These bunny plates or these bunny plates are adorable, as well as this Easter Egg Stoneware platter (all from Target.) If you’re looking for a wooden bunny-shaped serving board, I love this wooden bunny serving platter from TJ Maxx or this cute option from Target.

Tip: For extra festive decorations around the serving platter, I love winding twinkle lights or a garland like this carrot garland or this Easter Egg garland for some added character.

Can I Make This in Advance?

Yes! You can prep the pastries and jam 2-3 days ahead of time. I’d recommend waiting to add the frosting util after the pastries bake, since the warm pastries helps the icing melt and spread.

Storing Leftover Easter Egg Pop Tart

Store any leftovers in a Tupperware container or Ziploc bag and refrigerate, where they should last 3-4 days.
