We Love This Insanely Delicious Sweet Potato Casserole!

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without Grandma’s Sweet Potato Casserole, a traditional side dish that tastes more like a dessert! With its creamy sweetness and crispy pecan topping, it’s always the star of the feast and a must-have on every dinner table.

Sweet Potato Casserole with Pecan Topping


This is one of those classic recipes that can be passed down over the years as a family tradition!

Ingredients for sweet potato casserole

Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, baked
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped pecans*

*If you have any guests with pecan allergies, you can omit them or replace with granola.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, add cooked sweet potatoes, butter, milk, vanilla and sugar.
  3. Beat the ingredients together for about 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Add eggs and beat.
  4. Transfer mixture to a casserole dish and set aside
  5. In a medium-sized bowl, add all the topping ingredients. Mix together.
  6. Spread the topping evenly onto the sweet potato mixture and bake for about 30-35 minutes.

Can I Prep This Sweet Potato Casserole in Advance?

Yes! You can get everything prepped right before the baking step up to two days in advance. Just cover tightly with Saran Wrap and store in the refrigerator. This is best served warm!

Storing Leftovers

If you have any leftover Sweet Potato Casserole, transfer to a Tupperware container and keep in the fridge. To reheat, microwave for 30-second intervals until your preferred heat is reached.
