Loaded Baked Potato Dip

This Loaded Baked Potato Dip takes all of your favorite toppings and mix-ins of a baked potato and turns them into the best creamy dip! With flavors of cheddar, cream cheese, bacon, and chives, it’s an appetizer for any tailgate or party that will be gone in seconds.

When football season rolls around, this Loaded Baked Potato Dip is a recipe that’s requested by my neighbor every game day Saturday or Super Bowl Sunday. It’s the creamiest and cheesiest dip made with the best toppings of a baked potato then warmed in the oven until it’s rich and gooey.

The best part is it’s easy mix in advance and keep in the fridge to bake right before the game starts. And you only need a single bowl to mix the ingredients, making clean up super minimal. I love to serve it on a big presentation board with veggie strips as well as baked potato wedges for the ultimate comfort food bite. Pair it with our Cheesy Garlic Bread Dip and Spinach and Artichoke Dip for the best entertaining spread.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe

  • The easiest appetizer for a party. All you need is 8 ingredients and one bowl to make this gourmet, warm dip that everyone will devour.
  • Easy to assemble in advance to make party prep stress-free. Forget spending hours planning for a gathering, with this dip it only takes 10 minutes to assemble and then you can bake right as guests arrive.
  • Customize this loaded baked potato dip to your liking. Add other spices, herbs, hot sauce, or swap the cheese to make it your own!

Ingredients

  • Sour cream: The best base ingredient for any creamy dip. Greek yogurt also works for a lighter version.
  • Cottage cheese: Adds more creaminess and protein.
  • Cream cheese: Responsible for the best texture in a dip you could ask for.
  • Shredded cheddar cheese: Gives that classic cheddar flavor that we all love with a baked potato.
  • Bacon: We couldn’t forget the bacon! Make sure it’s cooked and crumbled before stirring into the dip.
  • Chopped chives: A nice fresh garnish with light onion flavor.
  • Garlic powder: Adds a kiss of garlic to every bite.
  • Onion powder: Gives some sweet onion flavor to the dip.

Expert Tips

  • There are so many options of what to serve with this dip. We love it with veggies, crispy potato wedges, or waffle fries for an appetizer everyone will love!
  • Make sure your cream cheese is softened for even mixing. This helps to incorporate the ingredients smoothly and evenly so every bite has the maximum amount of flavor.
  • Cook the bacon before adding it to the dip. You can also buy bacon bits to cut down on time.
  • Swap out the cheddar cheese if desired. It’s our personal favorite pairing with a baked potato dip, but you could also use American, mozzarella, or Swiss.

Football-Themed Accessories: For Superbowl-themed goodies, we love these Football Tablecloths, these fun Football Cake Decorations, or this Inflatable Snack Arena.

Football-Themed Sweaters: I love this In My Football Era, this Pink Lilly Gray Sweatshirt, or this Blue Sequins Tee.

Kitchen Links: I get asked all the time about the products in the background of my kitchen. Much of it is from MacKenzie-Childs, which I have slowly grown a collection of over the years! My favorites are this checkered chopping board, my black and white checkered teapot, and the gray and white checkered utensil holder. I also have this enamel canister that you can find in smallmedium, or large.

Storage

Cover any leftover dip with foil or plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, microwave in 30-second intervals until preferred heat is reached.

We don’t recommend freezing the dip since once it thaws the texture could be broken. If you want to assemble in advance, no problem! You can make it the morning of an event and then pop it into the fridge for a couple of hours before baking to serve nice and hot.
