Hot chocolate bombs are easy and fun to make and even more fun to watch disappear in a warm up of milk! The most delicious cup of hot chocolate you’ll drink this season!
Have you seen the new viral craze of hot cocoa bombs floating around the internet??? Ever since I saw a video on facebook about a month ago I have been wanting to try to make them for my own. I quickly searched Amazon and ordered molds which took a few weeks to get in. The hot cocoa bombs are relatively easy to make, they just take a bit of time.
The kids love watching the hot cocoa bombs disappear into a warm cup of milk. They also make cute gifts for friends, neighbors and teachers! Wrap up a hot cocoa bomb with a festive mug and you have an adorable and easy Christmas gift!
The molds are hard to find on Amazon, I ordered mine in October. I used these ones, and are currently still in stock!
If making them isn’t your thing you can find them in most stores, but hurry because they have become increasingly hard to find. I recently spotted them in Costco, Walmart and Target.
Place a hot cocoa bomb into your favorite festive mug and pour about 1 1/2 cup of warm milk on top. Watch the hot cocoa bomb melt and marshmallows appear. Stir gently to mix well and enjoy!
Note: 1 bag of Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers makes about 6 hot cocoa bombs
Melt chocolate wafers in microwave-safe bowl for 30 seconds. Stir. Continue to microwave in 15-second intervals until chocolate chips are melted and smooth. BE CAREFUL TO NOT overheat the chocolate.
Add a tablespoon of chocolate into 6 chocolate molds. Smooth chocolate up the sides of each mold with a spoon. Add more chocolate as necessary to coat the inside of each mold. Ensure that the sides and center of the mold are evenly coated with chocolate.
Freeze for about 7 minutes and gently remove chocolate from mold
Fill 3 halves with 1 tablespoon of cocoa mix and 1 tablespoon of marshmallows.
You will need a hot bowl or plate. Press one of the empty chocolate cups for a few seconds against the hot plate to melt the rim.
Place the empty chocolate cup over one of the filled ones.
Run a hot spoon carefully along the seam to melt the chocolate and seal the seam.
Decorate with additional melted chocolate wafers, or sprinkles if desired!
