Simple Tips for a Delicious Potato Salad Bar!

Make your summer BBQ hosting memorable with this easy Potato Salad Bar! This homemade potato salad recipe paired with a delicious variety of toppings can be customized any way you’d like! From crispy bacon bits to tangy pickles and everything in between, create a bowl of summer goodness that’ll have everyone asking for seconds.

Potato Salad Bar

It’s a fun and easy way to enjoy the flavors of the season while making memories with friends and family!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika (optional, for garnish)

Optional Toppings:

  • Crumbled bacon
  • Chopped chives
  • Diced pickles
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sliced black olives
  • Sliced jalapeños

Directions

  1. Boil potatoes until they are fork-tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain well and let cool slightly.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine potatoes, celery, red onion, and chopped hard-boiled eggs. Pour the prepared dressing over the potato mixture and toss until everything is coated.
  4. Chill for at least 1 hour & sprinkle with Paprika.

Wooden Serving Board: I used this Oversized Circular Serving Board, which is from Target at a great price. There is also a similar Lazy Susan version that is so convenient! Glass Containers: Target has an adorable set-of-four glass containers that you can get so much use out of! Amazon also has this beautiful set of rose-colored dessert dishes for a great price!

Individual Bowls: I adore these blue-and-white checkered ice cream dish by MacKenzie-Childs, which also comes in black, gray, or pink.

Salad Plates: I used my favorite checkered MacKenzie-Child checkered plates, which also come in pink or in a paper plate version! For adorable and affordable serving plates, I am obsessed with this beautiful coordinating set from Target for a great price! JC Penney also has these stunning floral plates that I think you’ll love!

Kitchen Links: I get asked all the time about the products in the background of my kitchen. Much of it is from MacKenzie-Childs, which I have slowly grown a collection of over the years! My favorites are this checkered chopping board, my black and white checkered teapot, and the gray and white checkered utensil holder. I also have this enamel canister that you can find in smallmedium, or large.

Can I Prep This in Advance?

Yes! You can prep the Potato Salad up to about two days in advance. Just store in an Airtight Tupperware container or Ziploc Bag and refrigerate.

Storing Leftovers

Keep any leftovers from your Potato Salad Bar refrigerated in Tupperware containers, Ziploc Bags, or covered tightly with Saran Wrap. This should stay fresh for 2-3 days!
