Four Simple Tips for a Pretty and Patriotic Tablescape

Sharing is caring!

This patriotic tablescape is made up of classic pieces, many of which you can reuse year-round! I love to decorate an outdoor table like this for Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Veteran’s Day!

I also linked all of my favorite products below for easy shopping! Here are my favorite tips for a beautiful tablescape in no time.

Patriotic Tablescape

1. Start with Red, White, or Blue Plates

I’ve been a huge fan of MacKenzie-Childs for years and have been slowly building my collection! For this patriotic tablescape, I used her blue “Courtly Check” line of serving ware. (She also has equally beautiful, checkered collections in black, gray, and even pink!)

You can also incorporate star-shaped plates and Americana-inspired accent plates and throughout your patriotic tablescape!

2. Add Layers for Additional Color

Depending on your plate color, you can then choose napkins, placemats, or a table runner in other red, white, or blue shades. For example, if you used blue plates, you can add in red placemats and a white napkin, or any combination laying patriotic colors.

If you don’t have placemats, you can also use plate chargers or a table runner! Design hack: if you don’t have an actual table runner, you can also use a swath of fabric (about 2-3 yards) from any craft store like Michael’s or JoAnn Fabrics.

You can also drape fabric to frame a sign, like this “Sweet Land of Liberty” one!

3. Incorporate Red or Blue Flowers

One of my absolute favorite flowers are blue hydrangeas. These are perfect for tall, dramatic vases or small mason jars and anything in-between.

Red roses, tulips, or peonies can also add a pop of color to your patriotic tablescape!

4. Add Festive Accents to Your Patriotic Tablescape

Finally, you can add patriotic accents such as mini American flags, twinkle lights, or ribbon to tie everything altogether.

I used mini flags tucked into my napkins and also added American flags to the flower arrangements. You also don’t need fancy napkin rings and can just use red, white, and blue ribbon! I alternated between white and gingham napkins.

  1. Mac-Kenzie Royal Check Pattern: These pieces are timeless, simple, and classic. For this look, I used the beautiful Drink Dispenser, individual ice cream bowls (you can use these for anything!), wine cooler that also doubles as a vase, large chargers/plates, and smaller salad/dessert plates. You also can’t go wrong with this Everything Bowl, Practical Pitcher, or Round Serving Platter.
  2. Patriotic Banners: How cute are these Star Streamers Garland from Walmart, this Patriotic Pendant Garland from Michaels, or this Bow Wreath from Walmart?
  3. Patriotic Accents: These Flag String Lights are adorable (especially to put in mason jars!), as well as these Patriotic Planters for flowers, Patriotic Pinwheels from Target, and American Flag Bows from Walmart.
  4. Table Runners and Placemats: I am in love with this Chambray Striped Runner from Kirklands. You can also find my Woven Placemats from JC Penney here!

Thank You to Our Military

Finally, I wanted to extend my since thanks for our military members and their families. We know that “freedom isn’t free” and we are so appreciative of your service for our country! I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day and I’m thinking of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

XoXo,

Leanna
