Healthy Homemade Granola Recipe

Granola is one of my favorite snacks! However, if you buy granola from the store it can be packed with lots of sugar! Today I am sharing an easy healthy homemade granola recipe that my entire family loves! What is great about this recipe is that you can make it using the ingredients of your choice! You can use almonds, chocolate, seeds, raisins or anything you desire!

I also love to give out this healthy granola recipe as gifts to teachers and neighbors throughout the year. Put it inside a mason jar and tie it with ribbon for the perfect gift. I’ll be gifting it to the teachers this year as an end of year gift along with a Target gift card.

How to make Healthy Homemade Granola

Ingredients

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 heaping cup pecans, chopped roughly or another nut of your choosing
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cusp almonds
  • 1/4 cashew halves
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup craisins
  • 3/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons real maple syrup (optional)
  • chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients together, except the craisins if you prefer the craisins to not be crispy, and not the chocolate chips
  3. Stir the wet ingredients until smooth
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients in a large bowl until the mixture is moistened.
  5. Spread the mixture on the baking sheet in a thin layer (you might need 2 baking sheets).
  6. Bake for one hour, stirring every 20 minutes. In the last 20 minutes add the craisins.
  7. When you remove the granola from the oven let it sit for 30 minutes so the granola forms yummy clusters
  8. Add the chocolate if desired!

Great ways to use healthy homemade Granola

  • Add to your favorite muffin recipe
  • Make granola bars!
  • Roll bananas in granola and greek yogurt and freeze.
  • Top a salad with it for some crunch!
