Here’s all you need for this cute dessert. The two specialty ingredients (pastel M and M’s and peeps) can usually be found in the seasonal section of the grocery store, or on displays near the checkout.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Oreo cookies (15.5 oz), crushed
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 boxes 3.4 oz each instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 12 oz Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 cup Easter M&M’s
  • 20 PEEP marshmallows
Chocolate Pudding and Easter Peeps

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk with instant chocolate pudding until smooth.
  3. Pour pudding mix into cream cheese mixture. Beat until combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. Fold in Cool Whip.
  5. Prepare in a 9×13 dish by pressing half the crush Oreos on bottom, followed by the pudding filling, and then topped with the remaining Oreos.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set. When ready to serve, sprinkle top of cake with Easter M&M’s candy and Peeps!

Substitutions

Coconut Grass: Another fun idea is to mix green food coloring with 2-3 cups of shredded coconut to make “grass” for the bunnies to be in a field!

Different Toppings: You could also substitute the bunny peeps with chick peeps, or swap out the Easter M and M’s for mini marshmallows or your other favorite candies.

Perfect Presentation Platters

Here are some of my favorite serving platters and plates that you could include with this recipe!

Easter Serving Dishes: If you’re looking for some festive plates, these bunny plates are adorable, as well as this Easter Egg Stoneware platter (all from Target.) If you’d prefer a paper option, these Easter paper plates are the cutest! I also love this wooden bunny serving platter from TJ Maxx or this cute option from Target. Wooden serving boards also double as cute decor in your kitchen!

Tip: For extra festive decorations around the serving platter, I love winding twinkle lights or a garland like this carrot garland or this Easter Egg garland for some added character.

Kitchen Links: I get asked all the time about the products in the background of my kitchen. Much of it is from MacKenzie-Childs, which I have slowly grown a collection of over the years! My favorites are this checkered chopping board, my black and white checkered teapot, and the gray and white checkered utensil holder. I also have this enamel canister that you can find in smallmedium, or large.

Can I Make This Ahead of Time?

Yes! The pudding will need to set for at least two hours ahead of time, and you can definitely make this recipe 1-2 days in advance. I’d recommend waiting to add the peeps until you are ready to serve so they don’t dry out.

Storying Leftover Easter Dirt Cake

Cover any leftovers with Saran Wrap or place in a Tupperware container and refrigerate. This should stay fresh for 3-4 days, although I doubt this irresistible recipe will last that long before it’s gobbled up! 🙂
