How to Make the Cutest Muddy Buddy Bats for Halloween

🦇These adorable Cookies and Cream Muddy Buddy Bats are the perfect little treat or gift for Halloween! This yummy recipe is very simple to make but hard to stop eating, believe me! 🙂

Muddy Buddy Bat Treats

I filled the new Hefty Press to Close Extra Large Sandwich Bag (with an expandable bottom and double zipper!!) with the muddy buddies and then secured it to the bat wings with a clothes pin. Muddy Buddy Bat supplies with Hefty sandwich bags

Ingredients and Supplies:

For the Muddy Buddy Bats/Puppy Chow Mixture:

  • 3/4 cups white chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 6 cups rice squares cereal, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 16 chocolate sandwich cookies, roughly chopped

🦇For the bat craft:

  • Black card stock
  • Black clothespin
  • Googly eyes
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Glue gun
  • Hefty Press to Close Extra Large Sandwich Bags
Ingredients for Muddy Buddy Bats

Directions

For the Treats:

  1. In a large bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave in 15 second increments, stirring in between each. Repeat until the white chocolate is completely melted.
  2. In a separate large bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate.
  3. Take two separate gallon-size Hefty Press to Close bags and pour the white chocolate into one and the semi-sweet chocolate into the other.
  4. Add 3 cups of Rice Squares cereal to each one and close the bags, leaving as much air in them as possible. Vigorously shake to coat.
  5. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to each bag, close and shake to coat.
  6. Pour the two different rice square cereals into a large bowl and add the chopped chocolate sandwich cookies. Use your hands or two large spoons to mix together.

Bat Assembly Directions:

  1. Cut bat wings out of cardstock. Glue black clothes pin in the middle of the bat wings. Glue on eyes and ears made out of pipe cleaners.
  2. Fill Hefty Press to Close Extra Large Sandwich Bags with two spoonfuls of muddy buddies. Pinch together in the middle and secure to clothespin.
  3. Enjoy Your Muddy Buddy Bats!

You can also draw on the eyes with white paint if you don’t have googly eyes for your Muddy Buddy Bats.

Can I Prep These Ahead of Time?

Absolutely! Because the Hefty Bags haze a double zipper seal, these should stay fresh for 1-2 weeks ahead of time. Just be sure to seal the zipper securely.

Storing Leftover Muddy Buddy Bats

If you have extras, all you have to do is reseal the Hefty bag and keep at room temperature. These should stay fresh for 1-2 weeks!
