How to Make a Halloween Kids’ Breakfast Board!
🎃👻 This Halloween Breakfast Board is such a fun and easy idea, especially for kids! I used our favorite Hungry Jack pancake mix to make pancakes in festive shapes by using cookie cutters! Don’t forget to add in some spooky fruit and donuts to go with it! 🦇🧙♀️
This would also be a great idea to share with coworkers, bring to kids’ sporting events, or just enjoy with your loved ones!
Ingredients
- Pancake Mix (We love Hungry Jack Buttermilk pancakes!)
- Syrup
- Mini Donuts
- Edible Googly Eyes
- Fruit – I used kiwis, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, clementines, and grapes.
- Optional Pretzel sticks (for the Frankenstein kiwis)
- Optional edible chocolate or candy (for the spooky faces on the chocolate donuts)
Directions
There are a couple of different ways that you can make the pancakes! Here are some options:
- Grease a skillet with cooking spray and pour the pancake batter into the cookie cutter. Cook approximately1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. Flip carefully with a spatula.
- Make a large batch of pancakes (approximately 3 cups, depending on the directions on the pancake box.) Pour directly into a greased sheet pan and cook for about 18 minutes. After they cool, use the cookie cutters to cut shapes.
- For the Frankenstein Kiwis: Use a knife to carefully remove 2/3 of the outer layer of the kiwi, leaving the top 1/3 for the monster “hair.” Add edible googly eyes, frosting for the mouth, and pretzel sticks in the neck.
Finally, arrange the pancakes as desired and surround with fruit, donuts, or your other preferred breakfast goodies.

Perfect Presentation Platters
Ghost Dish: I used a cute ghost dish like this one for the syrup!
Halloween Platters: If you’d like to serve your Halloween Breakfast Board on a festive plate, you may love this cute Jack-O’-Lantern platter or this Stoneware Ghost Platter (both from Pottery Barn), as well as this Marble Ghost Cheese Board from World Market. This black coffin-shaped tray is also spooky!
Wooden Serving Trays: I used this cute board with a handy double-handle! I also use this rectangular tray all the time. (Both at a great price!) Antique Farmhouse also has this beautiful set of three!
Round Trays: If you’d prefer a round tray, I’d recommend this round wooden Target tray, which I get so much use out of year-round! For a higher-end round tray, I love my MacKenzie-Childs checkered party tray. If you’d prefer some glitz, you could also go with this Gold Metal Party Tray from Walmart for a smaller gathering.
Large Serving Boards: If you’re prepping for a larger gathering, this wooden version from Target is fantastic, as well as this beautiful choice from Etsy. Additionally, this large rectangular board from Etsy is also beautiful.
Kitchen Links: I get asked all the time about the products in the background of my kitchen. Much of it is from MacKenzie-Childs, which I have slowly grown a collection of over the years! My favorites are this checkered chopping board, my black and white checkered teapot, and the gray and white checkered utensil holder. I also have this enamel canister that you can find in small, medium, or large.
The Haunted House Candy Jar is also MacKenzie-Childs!
Can I Make This Halloween Breakfast Board Ahead of Time?
Yes! You can definitely make all the pancakes a few hours ahead of time and just reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds before serving. You can also prep the edible googly eyes on the donuts, create the Frankenstein kiwis, and wash/slice any fruit 1-2 days in advance.
Storing Leftovers
I like to put leftover pancakes in a Ziploc bag, then refrigerate. You can store fruit in a Tupperware container or Ziploc Bag and refrigerate, where it should stay fresh for several day.
Happy Halloween!
I hope this Halloween Breakfast Board is an easy, inexpensive, and fast way to create a fun memory for the people in your life!
