Tips for a Beautiful Thanksgiving Food Board
This Thanksgiving Food Board comes together so quickly, looks wonderful, and can be adjusted to any size or food preferences! It’s also so convenient and doesn’t require any baking skills or oven space during those busy Thanksgiving food preps!
Ingredients
What I love about Food Boards is that they are so versatile and you can cater it around whichever ingredients are easily available to you. There is also the option to do entirely home-made treats, entirely store-bought, or a mix of both! Here are some of my favorite items to include:
Fruits: Strawberries, blueberries, grapes, raspberries, dried apricots
Cheese: Your favorite cheese assortments, such as cheese cubes
Breads: Scones, Banana Bread, Pumpkin Bread, crescents, crackers, or rolls
Sweets: Popcorn, cookies, brownies, mini cakes, chocolates
Directions
The great thing about Food Boards is that there isn’t a “wrong” way to set it up. Here are a few tips that do help it look most visually appealing!
- If you are feeding a larger crowd and need a “Double Decker” food board, simply place two upside-down bowls of the same size on top of the lower food board, then place another serving tray on top of the bowls.
- Starting with the larger items (such as the loaf of bread), start filling the board.
- Next, place the medium-size items (such as the scones) on the board next.
- Finally, fill in with the smallest items (such as blueberries or popcorn.)
- Enjoy!

How to Make a Salami Rose
If you’d like to make a Salami Rose for your Thanksgiving Food Board, all you need is a champagne flute or small glass! Here’s how you can make one in under a minute:
Perfect Presentation Platters
You don’t need any special platters for your Thanksgiving Food Board, but here are some options I love!
Pumpkin Serving Board: My Wood Pumpkin Serving Platter is from World Market! Pottery Barn also has a beautiful Reclaimed Wood Pumpkin Tray and JC Penney has a beautiful Pumpkin Platter for a great price!
Pumpkin Plates: World Market has these pretty white plates, Kirklands has these adorable white pumpkin appetizer plates as well!
Loaf Pans: This Autumn Loaf Pan is amazing to make a beautiful display (you can use store-bought Pumpkin Bread mix, or your own homemade recipe, like my delicious Banana Bread recipe with a secret ingredient! (Just be sure to grease the pan well so it comes out cleanly!)
For the scones, cornbread, or more this Triangular Baking Pan helps the portions look so tidy!
Wooden Serving Board: I use this Oversized Circular Serving Board all the time! There is also a similar Lazy Susan version that is so convenient. I also love this Rectangular Serving Tray from Walmart.
Serving Platters: For a higher-end choice, this Mac-Kenzie Childs Party Tray is also beautiful, as well as this set of 3 Acorn Jars.
Can I Prep This Thanksgiving Appetizer Board Ahead of Time?
Absolutely! You can prep any bread loaf pans, scones, or baked goods ahead of time and just store in a Ziploc Bag, Tupperware Container, or cover with Saran Wrap. If you’re within a few hours of your gathering, you can prep your entire board and just cover tightly with Saran Wrap so it stays fresh.
Storing Leftovers
Keep any perishable items, such as cheese or fruits, in the refrigerator in a Ziploc Bag or Tupperware container. I also recommend keeping the packing for your food items so you can simply put leftovers back if you’d like.
