This cute Spider Cheese Ball only needs a few ingredients with a homemade or store-bought cheese ball, seeds, pretzels and olives. This is so easy and fun for a Halloween Party!

Spider Cheese Ball

Ingredients

  1. Cheese Ball (either storebought or homemade.) Here is one of my favorite recipes, or you can also just mix Ranch Dip flavor with a block or two of cream cheese, depending on the size you want your spider to be.
  2. Chia or black sesame seeds
  3. 16 small pretzel sticks (two for each leg)
  4. Black olives or raisins for the eyes
  5. Optional: Crackers, pretzels, or favorite dippers

My Spider Cheese Ball has 6 legs instead of 8 legs (oops!) but still looks pretty cute! 🙂

Directions

  1. Divide the cheese ball into a large ball for the body and a smaller ball for the head. Make 6 small balls for the “knees.”
  2. Roll in chia or black sesame seeds, pressing to adhere. For best results, chill in the refrigerate for two hours so it isn’t too soft.
  3. Create the spider legs from 2 plain pretzel sticks; connect pretzels with “knees” and angle into the body.
  4. For eyes, attach black olive halves with a dab of cream cheese.
  5. If not serving immediately, keep in refrigerator until serving time so they Spider Cheese Ball doesn’t get too soft.

Perfect Presentation Platters

Halloween Serving Platters: If you’d like to serve your Spider Cheese Ball on a festive plate, you may love this cute Jack-O’-Lantern platter or this Stoneware Ghost Platter (both from Pottery Barn), as well as this Marble Ghost Cheese Board from World Market. This black coffin-shaped tray is also spooky!

Individual Halloween Plates: Target has the cutest stoneware appetizer plates for just $3 each! This Jack-O’-Lantern plate would be perfect for this dish, and you may also love this ghost plate. They would also be cute to pair together!

Cake Stands: If you prefer a wooden cake stand like mine, this is a beautiful option, as well as this beaded wooden cake stand from Antique Farmhouse. For a white cake stand, you could use this stoneware cake platter from Target, which also has a version with a glass lid. The mixed materials using marble and wood on this look is also very unique!

Kitchen Links: I get asked all the time about the products in the background of my kitchen. Much of it is from MacKenzie-Childs, which I have slowly grown a collection of over the years! My favorites are this checkered chopping board, my black and white checkered teapot, and the gray and white checkered utensil holder. I also have this enamel canister that you can find in smallmedium, or large.

The Haunted House Candy Jar is from Pottery Barn!

Can I Prep This Ahead of Time?

Yes! This can be made up to a day in advance so you can just focus on panic cleaning the day of your Halloween gathering (if you’re anything like me!) 😉 Keep in the refrigerator and cover carefully with foil or a cake lid if possible. Or, you can make and shape your cheese ball and wrap in Saran Wrap the day before, then assemble your Spider the day you plan on serving.

Cute Halloween Appetizer

Storing Leftover Spider Cheese Ball

Store any leftovers in a Tupperware container in the refrigerator, where it should stay fresh for 2-3 days! You can also cover with Saran Wrap if you don’t have Tupperware.
