Holiday Sangria Pitcher with long-stemmed wine glasses

I love incorporating simple party details that help create a unique atmosphere for our guests! However, making a special memory for loved ones doesn’t have to be overly complicated, time-consuming or expensive. Like all of the recipes I share, this can be made in minutes and requires everyday ingredients that you can reuse again and again.

Ingredients

Here is all you need to make this delicious holiday sangria!

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1 cup Fireball Whiskey (you can also use brandy)
  • 1 bottle sparkling chilled apple cider
  • 1/4 cup sugar (you can swap with Stevia or other lower-calorie sugar substitute)
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2 apples-Cube one apple and cut the other into thin slices for optional garnish.
  • 2 cups cranberries
  • 5 cinnamon sticks (can also be used for garnish)
  • 6 sprigs rosemary (can also be used for garnish)
Ingredients for holiday sangria
I used a small snowflake cookie cutter to cut apples into snowflake shapes!

Directions

  1. Combine wine, Fireball whiskey, apples, cranberries, oranges, sugar, cinnamon and rosemary in a large pitcher (all ingredients except for the sparkling apple cider.)
  2. Mix well and cover with Saran Wrap or aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator overnight for the flavors to blend.
  3. Add the sparkling apple cider and stir when ready to serve.
  4. Serve over ice in wine glasses and garnish as desired with cinnamon sticks and rosemary sprigs.

Optional Touches

You can also rim your wine glasses with melted chocolate, sprinkles, cinnamon, or sugar for extra flair:

Option 1: Melt one cup of white melting chocolate in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds. Pour crushed sprinkles (I like to use white, silver, or gold) in a separate bowl. Once the chocolate is liquid, dip the rim of the wine glass in the melted chocolate and immediately dip it in the crushed sprinkles. The chocolate will harden within a couple of minutes.

Option 2: Use maple syrup or honey instead of melting chocolate. Place your preferred choice in a bowl and dip the rim of the glass in the bowl. Mix equal parts cinnamon and sugar in another bowl. Dip the glass with honey or syrup into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Add ice and carefully pour the sangria in the top of the glass.

Option 3: Use a cookie cutter to make fun shapes out of the apples! I used a snowflake cutter, but you can use a Christmas tree, star, snowman, etc.

Can I Make This Ahead of Time?

Yes! It’s even better that way! Ideally, make it at least one day ahead of time for the flavors to blend. You can even prep it up to two days in advance! Just wait to add in the sparkling cider until you are ready to serve.

Perfect Presentation

Here are some of my favorite cocktail accessories that you can also use year-round!

Pitchers: For this recipe, I used this glass pitcher. I also love this red and white pitcher from Target, or this stoneware option. For a higher end choice, you could go with this MacKenzie Child’s Checkered Pitcher, which also comes in gray. If you would like to shop MacKenzie Childs, you can shop some of my favorite products here and also get 20% off by using code Leanna20.

Wine Glasses: I used these wine glasses to serve the sangria. I have also been loving these long-stem glasses from Amazon, which come in a set of four. These are copper stemless glasses are also beautiful! Or, these wine glasses are also slightly tinted and have a beautiful and unique pattern.

These fun wine glass markers are also a great way to keep track of whose glass is whose, and they wash right off. (I like to write guests’ names in pretty cursive.) 🙂

Cocktail Glasses: These gold-patterned glasses are so pretty and come in a set of four! For a more feminine look, these blush pink glasses are also lovely.

Bar Cart: Don’t worry, you don’t need a built-in bar to have a cocktail party. This bar cart from Walmart is high-quality and a great deal! It would also be great for outdoor parties with limited table space.

Hostess Gifts: If you are attending a cocktail party, these wine bags make a perfect gift! This marble wine chiller is also an excellent choice.

How Should I Store Leftovers?

Cover the pitcher with Saran Wrap or aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator. The Sangria should last about two days (or until the fruit gets too soggy.)

Cheers!

I hope you enjoyed this fun holiday sangria! (And special thanks to www.TheModernProper.com for the fabulous recipe!) Have you ever made a fun holiday cocktail? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! Happy Holidays, loves!
